Welcome to ByGeorge Press, a boutique design studio specializing in branding, custom wedding invitations, and stationery.

Designed for those who appreciate the art and care behind creating fine stationery, ByGeorge Press offers a range of quality paper goods, personalized to bring your vision to life through exquisite designs.

What We Do

Located in Charleston, South Carolina, our boutique design and fine paper studio specializes in custom wedding invitation suites, stationery, branding, and events. We use a 1903 Chandler and Price 10x15 Old Series Antique Letterpress to produce our designs for smaller projects such as personal stationery and branding projects in house. As our wedding invitations tend to be highly custom, utilizing unique materials and multiple press runs and print methods, we source materials from all over the globe and work with the country’s finest pressman to produce high end invitations.

Featuring etiquette guidance and white glove fulfillment services, our studio works tirelessly to ensure beautiful design and impeccable quality.

Who We Are

ByGeorge Press is owned and operated by Elizabeth Johnson, a Charleston-based graphic designer with more than 10 years of experience in the industry, and her creative muse, George, a cavapoo with more than 2 years of experience in the field of enthusiasm.

Elizabeth earned her degree in graphic design from The New School’s Parsons School of Design in New York, NY. After working as an art director and designer for various magazines including House Beautiful, GQ, and Garden & Gun, Elizabeth found her calling as the lead designer of all custom wedding invites and day-of papers at a local wedding boutique in Charleston.

Inspired by George’s passion for people, Elizabeth decided to follow her own passion for print in 2018. So, with a 1600-pound 1903 Chandler and Price Letterpress, a 600-pound guillotine from 1897, and a 14-pound furry shop boy in tow, Elizabeth launched ByGeorge and hasn’t looked back.

“Elizabeth listened and truly understood what we were looking for with our invites and day-of paper suite. She was caring, collaborative, and organized—and created something uniquely, beautifully, and entirely ‘us.’ They are a work of art!”
